How we work and how we are paid
We believe you should know exactly who you are dealing with. This disclosure explains our licensing, relationships and compensation.
1. Who we are
Policy Place is a business of Team Invictus Services Inc., 302-8128 128 St, Surrey, BC V3W 1R1. Our advisors are licensed to sell life and accident & sickness insurance in BC, AB, SK, MB and ON. You can verify an advisor’s licence on the public registry of the provincial insurance council (links below), and we will gladly provide licence details on request.
2. The insurers we work with
We are an independent agency and can offer products from several Canadian insurers. For travel insurance, the insurers available in our online quote engine are shown with each quote. For life, health and savings products, we will tell you which insurers we can offer for your needs. We may place business through managing general agencies (MGAs) that contract us with insurers.
3. How we are paid
Our advice and quotes are free to you. We are generally paid commissions by the insurer when you buy a policy, and we may receive renewal commissions while the policy stays in force. Some insurers or MGAs may also pay bonuses or other incentives based on overall business volume. If we ever charge you a fee directly, we will tell you in writing — including the amount — before you agree.
4. Conflicts of interest
Because compensation can differ between insurers and products, a conflict of interest could arise. We manage this by recommending products based on your needs, explaining the options we considered, and disclosing any material conflict before you buy. You are always free to ask how we are paid on a specific product.
Policy Place is owned by the same company that develops Invictus CRM, the software behind our client management and online quote engine.
5. Your responsibilities
Please answer application questions — especially medical questions — completely and accurately. Incorrect or missing information can lead to a claim being denied or a policy being cancelled. Read your policy wording when you receive it, and ask us about anything that is unclear.
6. Regulators
